About Me

I received my B.S. from Virginia Tech in Psychology with a Minor in English, my M.A. from Virginia Tech in English, with a specialty in Rhetoric and Composition.  In 2008, I received my Ph.D. from the University of Georgia in English, with specialties in Rhetoric and Composition, Theory, and Humanities Computing.

I currently serve as Associate Director of ePortfolio Initiatives at Virginia Tech.  We are a part of Learning Technologies, which is a division of Information Technologies.

I live in Blacksburg, VA with my husband, sons, and chocolate lab.  Each day we are thankful to live surrounded by beautiful mountains and close to so much of our family.

ePortfolios are a hot topic in higher education right now.  It's exciting to be a part of something that has such transformative potential.  Most important, though, is to never lose sight of the pedagogical implications of ePortfolios.  This is why I value most eFolio Thinking (to learn more about Folio Thinking, check out all of Helen Chen's amazing work!).

Current Interests
  • Electronic Portfolios in higher education
  • Reflection
  • Integrative thinking
  • Social and collaborative reflection
  • eLearning and mobile platforms

This site is a work in progress...  It's mostly professional, but I'm the kind of gal who likes to share my life and who is passionate enough about my work that I often see work and play as interconnected.
